Current Openings:

Applications Engineer

Develop hardware solutions for, and support customers in their designs of, low power electronic systems containing proprietary energy storage and power conversion components. In this position, you are expected to support and coordinate application engineering activities for all customers, from emerging to strategic; this includes managing the queue of new product ideas from all sources, both internal and external. The Applications Engineer will also be responsible for the review of new and updated customer specifications and monitoring of their progress through an internal review process, in addition to publishing application notes as required by the introduction of products and application concepts.

Responsibilities:

The Applications Engineer will:

  • develop power management solutions for low power systems in emerging markets related to semiconductor backup power, battery-powered wireless sensor networks, and energy harvesting;
  • work directly with customers to understand their system needs and propose solutions in accordance with those requirements;
  • define new product requirements, including critical electrical and mechanical specifications and device concept drawings and schematics;
  • work with all other departments within the company to ensure that products meet all requirements stated in customers' technical specifications;
  • provide field applications engineering and technical expertise to customers as they introduce their products to the market;
  • develop and characterize circuit board modules and evaluation platforms that showcase the company's products;
  • assist in general printed circuit board design, layout, and characterization activities;
  • write and publish application notes, reference design documents, and technical data sheets;
  • provide technical support at trade shows, technical symposia, and other technical events;
  • conduct company sales representative technical training and deliver ongoing technical expertise for the company's sales and marketing organizations.

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: BSEE or MSEE.
  • Five or more years of experience in electronic system design and/or semiconductor device design and engineering.
  • Minimum of two years of direct field applications or factory applications experience supporting customers with semiconductor-based standard products.
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor device testing and characterization is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and on product and business teams.
  • Some travel is required for this position.
