Wafer Fab Process Engineer

Job description

The Wafer Fab Process Engineer will support process development and process integration of wafer manufacturing processes as applied to thin film, solid state batteries using semiconductor processes and battery materials. The engineer will also work closely with the product test organization to correlate product yields and device performance with wafer processes as part of ongoing yield enhancement initiatives. In addition, advanced technology development is a critical element of the job.

Specific Job Duties Include:

  • Developing and implementing unit processes and experiments to improve yield and manufacturing efficiencies
  • Interfacing with fab process engineers for the thin film deposition, photolithography, and etch areas, and maintaining process controls accordingly
  • Communicating process status to the management team as well as to the equipment engineering organization
  • Documenting wafer fab processes and procedures as needed
  • Correlating in-line and final test data to wafer manufacturing processes and thin film characteristics
  • Proactively seeking ways to improve equipment, tooling, and processes to increase overall productivity, capacity, and profitability
  • Being prepared to learn skills outside of the wafer fab, including device testing and analysis
  • Conducting device characterization and failure analysis, including operation of various test instruments and analytical instruments, tools, and techniques
  • Working closely with other process engineers, technicians, and operators, to maintain smooth operation of the Cymbet Corporation research and development facility

Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate will be an individual with 3+ years of experience in semiconductor or similar thin film processing. In addition, the successful candidate should have or be able to readily develop and attain:

  • A working knowledge of sputtering, PECVD, photolithographic, and etch processes
  • Familiarity with statistical control techniques and proven problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with chemical storage and disposal
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery chemistry
  • Self-motivation capabilities
  • An ability to aid problem solving teams to reach successful conclusion
  • An understanding of working in an entrepreneurial environment and being stimulated by such a culture
  • The capability to distill technical views to a decisive course of action
  • A proven ability to manage work flow to meet production and yield goal
  • A “hands-on” approach to working in the wafer fab
  • A detail-oriented, efficient approach to daily activities
  • An ability to prioritize work to best focus on activities that yield the best overall result for the company
  • Effective presentation and communication skills

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Chemistry
