Cymbet to Present at Sensors Expo 2016

Jeff Sather VP Customer Solutions will explain how to use Solid State Batteries in New Applications

Minneapolis, MN May 15, 2016 - Jeff Sather of Cymbet Corporation will be speaking at Sensors Expo & Conference on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the pre-conference symposim: Energy Harvesting and Sophisticated Power Solutions for Sensor Applications- Tutorials. The title of his tutorial is Micro-Batteries and Power Budgets in Miniature IoT Devices. Emphasis will be placed on practical and reliable energy storage solutions for small devices such as wearables, implantables and Internet of Things (IoT) wireless sensors.

Attendees will learn about: 1) the characteristics and uses of solid state thin film micro-batteries, 2) how power consumption can be reduced to extend battery life in wireless devices, 3) practical implementations of energy harvesting in sensor-based applications. Low power wireless charging and integration of micro-batteries in miniature medical devices will also be discussed.

“Creating optimal ultra-low power designs is challenging and the technology is still evolving,” said Jeff Sather Cymbet VP Customer Solutions. “This Sensors Expo session will describe ways designers can minimize complexity while leveraging advanced battery and power management technologies in new innovative products.”

EnerChips Go Where Coin Cell Batteries and Super Caps Can Not
EnerChip rechargeable solid state batteries have a footprint as small as the CBC005 bare die that is 1.37mm x 0.85mm x 175 microns thick. The EnerChip RTC products combine an EnerChip solid state battery, a power management IC, and ultra-low power Real Time Clock into a single 5 x 5mm SMT reflow solder package.  EnerChip batteries meet all environmental standards and certifications including RoHS, REACH, UN Air Transportation Safety and WEEE disposal.

EnerChip Batteries are 100% Non-Cytotoxic
Medical in vivo and in vitro testing of EnerChip bare die batteries have shown them to be 100% non-cytotoxic which is ideal for powering Medical and Healthcare products.  The gamma sterilized Cymbet EnerChip bare die batteries were found to be non-cytotoxic (0% cell lysis) using several screening procedures. The lack of any adverse biological responses in these very sensitive in vitro cell culture assays is indicative (although not a guarantee) of biocompatible test results in the other in vitro and in vivo aspects of biocompatibility as suggested by the ISO 10993-1 and FDA G95-1 guidelines.

Designing with EnerChip Batteries
