Cymbet Recieves 2008 Tekne Award

November 6, 2008

Company Honored as One of Minnesota's Technology Innovators

Minneapolis Minn., Nov. 6, 2008 – Cymbet Corporation received the 2008 Tekne Award for Advanced Manufacturing in the Small and Growing Company category at the 9th annual event held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Oct. 30. The Tekne Awards acknowledge Minnesota companies and individuals who have demonstrated superior technology advancement and leadership in their respective fields.

Cymbet was recognized for their excellence in the production of advanced materials, chemicals, machinery and equipment, electronics, and components. Cymbet's EnerChip™ solid-state, thin-film battery embodies innovation in all these areas. With the recent launch of the EnerChip CC, which is the world's first thin-film battery with integrated battery management, Cymbet has again introduced new ways for designers to power advanced electronic devices such as wireless sensors, consumer electronics and industrial systems.

"We are thrilled to receive this 2008 Tekne Award," said Bill Priesmeyer, Cymbet CEO. "Bringing the EnerChip to market required innovation in all areas of our company – from materials research and product design, to manufacturing processes and customer applications. It is important to note that having access to highly educated and experienced technical talent in Minnesota has made a real difference for our company."

The Tekne Awards, presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) in partnership with Enterprise Minnesota and LifeScience Alley, annually recognize Minnesota's leading technology users and innovators. Tekne Award recipients represent a collection of industry leaders advancing Minnesota's status as a hub for technology innovation.

"This year's recipients are outstanding examples of innovation and leadership," said Kate Rubin, president, MHTA. "Cymbet is helping to secure Minnesota's place as a center of innovation in the global economy."

Judges selected one recipient out of the three finalists in each of 17 Tekne Awards categories recognizing the best and brightest in development, education, commercialization and management of technology. Company awards included separate categories for small and growing businesses (with annual revenues less than $50 million) and established businesses (with annual revenues of $50 million or more).

This year's Tekne Awards ceremony was emceed by Kerri Miller, host of Minnesota Public Radio's "Midmorning" and "Talking Volumes." A list of 2008 Tekne Award recipients and finalists is available online at
